After the Grape Harvest Tour with Beniamino

Our informative and fun-filled tour, Dopo la Vendemmia (After the Grape Harvest) started in Milan in late September 2023 and ended twelve days later in Rome. Beniamino led the tour group first to Turin to see some of the treasures of this elegant city and then through the rolling hills of the Langhe in Piemonte, the home of luscious Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The tour party went hunting for truffles and enjoyed sampling a variety of local delicacies and (of course) the beverages at a family-run winery La Tenuta del Barone di Maurilio Vaira in Calliano.

From Piemonte, the group travelled to the medieval city of Bologna to visit the world’s oldest University and the famous “Mercato di Mezzo” food markets. After Bologna, the tour party headed for Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace in the country town of Vinci, so they could absorb some of the genius of the polymath!

The group then travelled into the Chianti region of Tuscany, staying in Radda in Chianti and visiting Greve and San Gimignano before arriving at their country base in a delightful palazzo just outside the walls of Siena. After spending time in this most magnificent of Tuscan towns, the tour group then moved on to Montalcino and Montepulciano.

This area of southern Tuscany is of course renowned for its revered Brunello wine as well as Chianti and Vino Nobile wines, which the group was very happy to indulge in - 😊

It was hard to leave the rolling golden hills of this medieval landscape, but the time eventually came and the group left for Rome via a stop at the hill-top town of Orvieto, famous for the magnificent mosaic façade of its cathedral as well as the best known white wines of Umbria. It was a fitting end to a most enjoyable tour!

CLIENTS’ COMMENTS: After the Grape Harvest Tour

"The regions covered were exactly what I was after – the Piedmont / Chianti / Tuscany wine growing areas from Narzole through to Montalcino / Montepulciano. Wherever possible, we stayed away from the main centres travelling via secondary roads thanks to both Beniamino and Antonio’s use of the local roads. " Wayne

"Well thought-out packed tours full of information.

Wonderful to have such a knowledgeable tour guide in Beniamino and a very capable hand waving serenading driver in Antonio. Between them they helped us find very authentic eating experiences and being driven on the back roads was a highlight for us both.

Your hotels were all so different many old and interesting and well situated.

We appreciate how much work putting a tour like this must entail and it will live long in our memories. Thank you all."  Jennifer
